'Asking Questions Will Make The Right Entertainer Stand Out'

Why do you feel that you are the 'Premier' DJ in the area?
Over the years, I have met, seen and/or spoken to countless other DJ's and have received endless feedback and input. I offer a unique mix of:

a.) PROFESSIONALISM.
I am always completely professional in the way I dress, act, and treat your guests. I am very easy going, considerate and thoughtful. I have done many, many Weddings and know how to read and respect my audience. I am always on time, prepared to play what you have requested, and always willing to go the extra mile when asked.

b.) EXPERIENCE.
I have done so many successful Weddings that I know what works and what doesn't. I know what to expect, can offer suggestions, and can smoothly handle even awkward situations.

c.) PERSONALIZED ATTENTION.
This is your special day and although I do at least 25 Weddings a year, I go out of my way to personalize your Wedding and treat every Bride and Groom like a King and Queen. I will follow YOUR agenda. You tell me what you'd like me to announce, what to play, etc. and you can rest assured I will follow all of your requests to make this the Wedding you've dreamed about. Unlike other DJs, you do not have to worry about talking to a salesman who assigns random DJ's.

BEWARE OF AGENCIES...................You can be certain that I will be your DJ and you will get MY personal attention, MY experience, and MY expertise. I have never missed a single Wedding in my career. Some agencies will assign your DJ when they feel like it.

d.) MUSICAL KNOWLEDGE.
No matter what music format you like (other than International songs), I have it, know it, and can play it. I also keep the crowd dancing by always knowing what to play next, when to slow it down, when to speed it up, etc.
Also, the music you hear will all flow together very smoothly. There will be no dead air in-between songs, but instead the songs will all flow together to make dancing time more fun.

e.) WORK ETHIC.
I work as hard as anyone you will meet to exceed your every expectation. I frequently exceed Brides/Grooms every single vision of their big day. I have set the bar VERY high for myself and I am ALWAYS finding ways to improve. I always feel I can improve in some way, some how.  My references will be more than happy to vouch for this also.

Feedback from Brides, Grooms, and guests says a lot; but when other professionals (such as Photographers, Catering Managers, and Videographers--who have seen A LOT of DJ's) compliment me, I really know how I compare to others.

What do you cost compared to other DJ's?
I know DJs that are $500, $1000, $5900 and everything in between.  It's true, you get what you pay for.  The question is, which "level" of DJ is appropriate for your wedding?

Anyone that finds the entertainment an important part of their day probably needs more than they realize.  A quality DJ will always provide so much more than music.  It is a priority that is money well spent.

My "style" is to give you the required attention before and during your event.  This ensures that I will know exactly what you want and need for your wedding to be a tremendous success.  I will pronounce names correctly and orchestrate the right event at the right time, (announcing cake cutting, toasts, first dance, etc.)

You will always get what you pay for with me (most Brides & Grooms state that they got even more than they paid for) - the utmost in professionalism, reliability, service, flexibility, experience, talent, and musical expertise.

I have also been chosen by other DJs for their weddings and events (10 times at the time of this writing).  When it mattered most and was time for them to be the customer, I was blessed to be their choice.  I am very thankful that my own peers and "competition" view my service as being worthy for their families events.

Thank you for considering me to be the "Right" DJ for your event

How do you distinguish yourself from other DJ's?
First and foremost it would be my personalized service you receive from the first time we speak until the end of your event. I make myself available to you most anytime you need me. I am also someone who is always striving for perfection in every aspect of DJing. I am always trying to improve, whether it be by buying more music, getting the newest equipment, and/or expanding my ever growing Wedding knowledge.

I have a very low-pressure approach to booking events. I tell you what I can offer, I meet with you, then you decide. I will not call you  pressuring you to return a signed contract, I will never claim to be the 'do it all' DJ (instead, I will only offer one Wedding style--classy and fun).

Do you require a payment to secure my date?
Yes, 50% of your total with balance due 30 days before your event.

How far in advance do we need to reserve our date with you?
I believe that you should not book anyone until you are confident of your decision, then don't wait a moment longer.

Do you meet with prospective couples?
Yes, if you find this necessary.  We can meet before booking to get an understanding in person of what I can provide. We can also meet approximately one month before the Wedding to ensure every detail has been covered including correct pronunciations, exact time lines, etc.

Many couples live out of state and are 'coming home' for their wedding.  By way of telephone and email, I will still be able to plan your reception with you.  You will receive as much attention and focus as a client that is able to meet with me face to face.

What is your Wedding attire?
In most cases, Brides & Grooms request that I wear a suit, (very similar to what you will see me wear in our meetings).

Do you play the "cheesy" music some couples hate?
No, unless specifically requested by the Bride/Groom. It is NOT standard for me to play "the Macarena", or "the Hokey Pokey" unless they are specifically requested by the Bride/Groom. Again, this is your day and you can tell me exactly what to and what not to play--it's up to you!

Can you play a CD that we provide?
Yes, I will play any CD that you provide if you would like to hear something I don't have or couldn't purchase beforehand. Very often a couple will provide some special Salsa, Greek, Jewish, or other Ethnic/Traditional music that they would like to hear.

Can you provide music for our ceremony with a separate sound system?
Yes. I frequently provide an additional system for ceremonies.  This system features the ability to hook up numerous microphones (including a cordless mic), musical instruments, and of course a CD player.  Call for details.

Do you take requests?
Of course, within reason. If someone requests something that is inappropriate for your Wedding I would try to offer an alternative. Otherwise, I welcome any danceable requests from the crowd!

Do you have references?
I can supply references to any interested clients. I do not list references' phone numbers on my site to respect my former clients.

How do you know what music to play?
I play a little bit for everyone, so if you are age 75 or 25, you will have a good time. I bring and can play ANYTHING you might want (other than International music). During cocktail hour and/or Dinner I play a lot of 40's/50's Jazz/Big Band (artists such as Etta, Ella, Louis, Frank, Dean, Nat, Sam, Johnny etc.), and perhaps some easy listening (artists such as Norah, Sting, Billy etc.). This music is always background music, which means you can still chat with the person next to you without yelling. During dance time, I usually play Swing, Motown, 70's, and perhaps some 80's/90's - trying to cater to the median age of the guests. The music is always a nice mix with smooth transitions, so if you are dancing there will be NO silence in-between songs.

Do we have to pick out music for the whole evening?
No. Most of my Weddings are referrals and they will just ask me to play the same music they heard at the event where they saw me. I encourage input from the Bride/Groom if they know what their guests will like. You can choose anything you like. It's your Wedding!

Do you have a backup DJ?
Yes. But, I have NEVER been late nor missed a single event in 21 years. In the very unlikely event that I cannot attend your event, I will provide you with a replacement DJ. I have connections as some of my best friends are quality DJs that give me access to back up DJ's as needed.

Can we come see you perform?
I am often asked this question, but it is something I strongly oppose. I do not invite couples to come see me at SOMEONE ELSE'S Wedding. Would you like guests at your Wedding that you didn't know? I am just very considerate towards others. I am more than happy to provide references, but I do not randomly invite guests to a Wedding where I am performing. Besides, you would need to stay the whole 7 hours to get the complete screening of my style.

Do you require a meal?
Definitely not. I never assume I can help myself to a buffet or that I am entitled to an extra meal. If you have purchased something for me--that is fine. However, I usually eat before all of my events in anticipation of not eating while at work!

Do you put up and/or use any promotional items at your events?
NO!! I do not bring a big sign with my name blazing on it to put on the wall behind my DJ table. I DO NOT make endless, announcements plugging my services; and I DO NOT wear a 'musical notes" bow tie.

What do you need at the venue?
I require to be able to set up next to your dance floor and access to two separate dedicated 20 amp power outlets within 25 ft. Otherwise, I supply everything I need.

What kind of equipment do you have?
Simply put, I own the best equipment money can buy. You are guaranteed the cleanest, sharpest sound possible when you book me. I only use the best names in Professional Electronics such as: JBL, Shure, Apple, etc.

What time will you arrive the day of our Wedding?
I usually arrive 2 hours before your guests are scheduled to arrive. I can set up in an average of 30 minutes; but depending on the venue, it may take me slightly longer.
You are not charged for the set up time.

What sort of Ethnic Weddings are you experienced with?
I have performed at various Weddings that have been Jewish, Italian, Irish, Hispanic, Croatian, Hawaiian, Scottish, Russian and various other backgrounds. I will NOT claim to be an expert in any of these areas. In each case, the Bride/Groom chose (and supplied) all of the Ethnic music they desired; and I was more than happy to play it. Now, they did want a mix of that music and traditional Wedding music. Other than a few certain traditions, they were very much the same as all the other Weddings I have performed.

Do you have a video of a performance?
No. I have never video taped any of my performances. If you are concerned with how my setup looks, how I look, how many guests dance, etc., you are more than welcome to speak to some of my references.

Are you a member of any DJ Associations?
I am a member and on the board of the Midwest Association of Professional Disc Jockeys (MAPDJ).

Can you offer Macarena or Chicken dance lessons?
I do not dance and/or teach anyone else to dance. You might request these songs to be played but I do not lead guests in participation dances.

If we decide to meet with you, can we book you at the meeting?
I will offer a contract to you only when you are ready to decide. It is very presumptuous to SEND someone a contract BEFORE you are ready. After speaking with a couple, I ask them to think things over, talk to other DJs, find out for themselves why I am so unique. My goal is to make this process as low-pressure as possible. I don’t believe in forcing Brides/Grooms to sign a contract by using pushy sales lines like 'this offer is only good today' or 'If you don't sign this today, your date will be gone by tomorrow' etc. This will be the biggest decision of your Wedding. You should make sure you hire the right person for you.

Do you offer any "sign on now", "book online", "book early" etc. discounts?
No. I do NOT try to lure you in with special gimmicks and discounts. You will notice the Top Vendors in our area don’t offer any of these sales tricks.  Quicker is NOT better when it comes to hiring a Wedding DJ. The DJ is by far the most important Vendor at your Wedding Reception and you need to choose VERY carefully. At the same time, I will let you know that I do book up very quickly. So if you wait too long, it will be tough to get any of the top vendors in town for your event.

How much freedom do we have to choose music?
You can have complete control over the music if you want it. You can pick 10 songs or 100 songs. It is your Wedding and the guests are your friends. You usually will know what they will like.

Now, I do have many Brides/Grooms who only pick a few songs and then ask me to keep them dancing with whatever I think will work. I will be more than happy to play anything you would like; but I will remind you to always keep your guests in mind. You need to remember they are there to celebrate your Wedding, but you do want them to enjoy themselves. Try to choose music that will appeal to your grandparents, aunts/uncles, parents, as well as to your friends.

You may also bring anything you may want to hear that I may not have.

How many dance songs do you typically play in an evening?
In a typical 4-hour reception, there may be approximately 60 songs (give or take).

How do you keep up with all the current music?
I subscribe to "Top Hits USA" CD compilations. These come out every week and keep me up to the minute with ANYTHING that is on the charts.

Do you smoke and/or drink during events?
Of course not. You know someone really asked me this. They said they had seen a DJ doing it at a Wedding they attended. There is not much more unprofessional behavior than that.

Do you have a smoke machine, and/or other special effects equipment you can bring to our event?
I do not offer any smoke machines. Some sort of lighting is available upon request.

Do you bring a wireless mic?
Yes. I bring a wireless (a Shure Beta-87A and an SM58, SLX Series which is seen on most live TV programs daily) and a corded mic to every event. Any remotely professional DJ should ALWAYS carry both to ALL events. There is of course NO extra charge.

Do you send out a bulky packet of promotional materials to everyone who inquires into your services?
No. This website is purposely overly detailed so Brides and Grooms can get an in-depth overview of my services. This saves everyone time. Everything you would ever want to know about me and my services is pretty much on my site.

Why do you seem so confident?
After many years in this business, I have met and spoken to numerous DJ's. The Wedding DJ community is large but small. The elite DJs know the other elite DJs. I have a good idea who else is out there, what kind of equipment they use, how deep their music library and musical knowledge is, how they conduct themselves at events, what level of service they provide etc.

I also don't feel that I should sell myself as 'one of the best', but not explain why I cost more or why I may be unique.

Also, when others (i.e. photographers, catering managers, Wedding Planners, etc.) frequently tell you how uniquely talented you are, you can get a gauge of how you stack up against others in your field.  Confidence should not be a negative thing.

Why do you specialize in Weddings?
I am very passionate about Weddings and love to see the shining faces of the varied elated guests. No other performance can bring that. I am also attracted to the challenge of music variety, the diversity of the guests, and the intense, detailed planning that Weddings demand.

How did you get started doing Weddings?
I started DJing in 1986 and started Weddings soon after that in 1989. At that time, I learned first hand all the challenges Weddings present. Then in 2000, I began performing full time and have been ever since. I just always had a knack for keeping guests dancing and making the evening very enjoyable for everyone WITHOUT being annoying and cheesy.

Do you bring an assistant that requires a meal and fills in for you while you are on break?
Absolutely Not. It has always been just me. I don’t use anyone to carry my equipment, to get my beverages and/or to fill in if I need a break.

Do you offer photography, Videography and Limo services as well as DJ Services?
Absolutely not.  I am only a DJ and will not inundate you with a marketing blitz for other services. My expertise lies in one area....Elegant and Fun Wedding Services. I spend all of my time growing and learning in the Wedding arena.
